Instructional Designer Portfolio

Louisa James
Passionate about learning, sharing, growing, and having some fun along the way.
Elearning
Emotional Intelligence

As part of the creation of Live it, Learn it, our leadership learning Hub, I crafted the Emotional Intelligence Gym as a companion to the ILT of the same topic. This module gives participants a chance to practice their skills and build muscles, too!
Accountability

After sifting through the feedback and data gathered, we realized that colleagues felt there was a lack of personal and team accountability (doing what you say and saying what you mean). As I created this Learning Hub, I focused on taking each learner through a fun Zoo e-learning journey of understanding Personal Accountability including Above/Below the line thinking and the four original stages of RISE which provide learners simple, useable techniques to carry to their team and colleagues. (Inspired by Walk the Talk)

Emotional Intelligence

Be SaaS

Each learning hub needed a punchy and eye-catching introduction to entice learners into exploring more. These videos are fast-moving with targeted messaging and splashy graphics to introduce the concepts and get the learner hyped on the topic.
ILT and Elearning Modules
EL ITL

Whether in person or online, Instructor-led training can be a great way to make valuable connections with other colleagues while engaging with the content. Leaders and colleagues got a chance to share their Emotional Intelligence in this fast-paced ILT. Are you a tiger, cow, or alien?
Transparency Elearning
Transparency is critically important in any organization. This learning experience combines animated elements of story with practical exercises to learn more about Challenging with Care. (Inspired by Radical Candor.)
The Land of ID

When a lonely ID falls asleep at his desk, he is whisked away to the magical land of ID where he travels through this realm filled with information about being and instruction designer. Along the way, he meets some friends who show him the true meaning of being an ID.
Divorce Course
Created in RISE, this course fulfills the legal requirement of Parent Education that each couple that divorces in Florida must take. It's a difficult time for everyone, but I approached this module as providing a useful tool with great resources.

This module was created as a part of the interview process with Amazon. I was provided only the topic, "Dealing with Difficult Customers" and 3 days to complete. I researched the topic and created a branched scenario to help customer service agents better respond to challenging customers. It's not a totally finished product, but I wanted to share what I could get done in just a few days starting with no materials.
Hub Intro Videos
The Recruitment Team wanted to be the welcoming team for their Learning Hub. I think they nailed it with this video!
This quick intro video was the main image learners were met with when they came to university page. It sure makes learning seem exciting!
Job Aids Infographics

Who doesn't love an easy to read Job Aid to help apply those Leadership Skills in the moment? We can all use a great cheat sheet to remind us about the content we learned in our elearning and ILTs. And best of all, no need to write notes on your forearm any more.
Who, me?
I design programs that challenge learners to think differently, are learner-centric, performance-focused, and results-driven. Whether it's working with a SME or gathering the content myself, I develop innovative, pedagogically-strong learning solutions in response to the business need.

I have maneuvered through highly technical topics such as OData (no, not a new Motown singing trio) and Leadership Development (leaders need love, too). My strengths are my ability to take the most challenging content and digest and spit out an easily-digestible tidbit of learning morsels. Is anyone else suddenly hungry?
If you need someone who can take a project from the beginning seeds of an idea or identification of a problem based on data and feedback, all the way to final deliverable and even LMS upload, then I'm ready and eager to take on the challenge.

Let's go on this journey together and enjoy the scenery along the way. I'll buy your ticket. You bring the iced coffee. Two Stevia, One Splenda, Steamed Cream.
